A slot is a narrow notch or groove, especially one for receiving something, such as a keyway in a piece of machinery, or a slit for a coin in a vending machine. The term may also refer to a position in a group, series, sequence, or assignment.
A casino game where players insert cash or, in the case of “ticket-in, ticket-out” machines, a paper ticket with a barcode into a designated slot on the machine and then activate it by pushing a lever or button (either physical or on a touchscreen).
